SB2: Research on Publication and Zines in other Universities (Uni of Leeds)

As the zine publications that we made are going to be distributed mostly around the university campus, I decided to research what zines/ publication other universities have.

I went to University of Leeds Union as it's the biggest university in Leeds therefore I thought they would have the largest variety of publications around. Looking at their union it was mostly leaflets that they have for events which was also varied such as society events, sports etc. There was only a few pamphlets or publication zines there really. The ones that I found where saddle stitched or jsut folded to be like brochures. They were also made from light 100 gsm ish paper stock that's quite glossy and was probably mass produced as well.

Thoughts & Reflections:

It was what I expected for university publications as they were very probably mass produced and is high quality. And, because they were mass produced it also makes since to have the binding method easy and simple hence the saddle stitch. where it's placed in the university is also very good as it easily seen by the students which is the main audiences that they are being targeted to. Thinking of how Incan apply this where our publication should be placed, I'm thinking of maybe putting them in the library where students are usually studying which has a high possibility of them being interested on what it is, or the student union, as I also went there and found that they stack free zines and publications there for students to get.
