Uncomfortable Images Gif Making

In pairs we were to compare our uncomfortable photos and find  word which links both pictures together in order to create a gif.

My uncomfortable images were from the ethnic cleansing thats happening in Rohingya. I find this really uncomfortable as the idea of ethnic cleaning itself is something that I find really disturbing and wrong. Killing people just because of there religion is something which I think is horrendous and just unnecessary.

Will's uncomfortable photos were of wounds, and with the thoughts of the wounds making him feel sick.

We created a gif in pairs by combining one of our photos from our uncomfortable images and used a word which describes both pictures. We used the word as a starting point for the gif, as well as try to come up with other words which we could use.

Starting with a mind map we thought of all the words that are very similar to pain which was the first word that we thought of that could fit out both out pictures. Doing this, we narrowed it down to which word we thought was the most appropriate for our images as well as a word which we could effectively visualise - 'Suffering'.

We collaged the images of the ethnic cleansing in Myanmar and put a cover with eyes in order to signify the people who watches it happen and the audience of the news of the suffering of the Rohingya people. With red paint which could signify the pain and the lives lost because of the cleansing. Also, a knife was added in order to portray the kind of weapons that are used and show how it is a crime. Overall, I think the gif was quite effective in portraying the word, as the usage of colour and images clearly showed the message of the word and the connotations and mood that it has.
